About the role:

The Senior Coordinator, Clinical Experience plays a key role in managing the extensive and complex clinical placement program for the School of Nursing and Midwifery. This involves coordinating the placement of around 3500 undergraduate and postgraduate students, with over 6000 placement experiences and 100,000 clinical placement days across more than 200 health organisations. In this role, you’ll lead the clinical professional placement team across all campuses, ensuring the team operates efficiently and delivers timely, accurate services to key stakeholders, including students, health organisations, and School staff.

As a Senior Coordinator, Clinical Experience, you will:

  • Lead the School’s clinical professional placement team and coordinate the full range of clinical administrative tasks to manage over 100,000 clinical placement days per year.
  • Meet with clinical partners and develop new partnership relationships to ensure the continued prioritisation of Deakin Nursing and Midwifery students in health services and at times representing the Faculty of Health at Department of Health clinical placement meetings.
  • With an annual placement budget of approximately $7.5 million, project placement forecasts, approve invoices, and provide monthly financial updates.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Dean of Nursing and Midwifery, School Executive Group and as required the Faculty Executive with immediate and accurate data for the university and health service partnerships on current student placement in a very short time frame.
  • Ensure all clinical placement agreements are up to date prior to student attendance at health care organisations and ensure mandatory documentation (e.g. police check, working with children check and immunisation certification) is received and processed in a timely manner to meet all necessary clinical deadlines of both the School and health organisations.
  • Continuous quality improvement (CQI) approach to the undertaking of student experience support and activities ensuring consistent processes and accuracy of clinical data.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Familiarity with University management, planning and continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of issues and policies affecting the higher education sector and university governance (desirable).
  • Highly skilled in advanced MS Excel functionalities and data analysis; advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to analyse and synthesize complex datasets.
