As a Senior Technical Officer, you will:

  • Lead and manage technical staff to ensure efficient and safe operation of teaching and research laboratories.
  • Provide expert guidance on OH&S standards, ensuring a safe laboratory environment for staff and students.
  • Oversee the management of hazardous substances, including risk assessments, safety procedures, and compliance.
  • Maintain and audit chemical inventories, ensuring regulatory compliance for storage and disposal.
  • Manage the School’s Inwards Goods facility and research SharePoint page, optimising resource allocation and content management.                                                                                                                                    

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or extensive laboratory operations experience.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments.
  • Expertise in laboratory safety regulations, including OH&S, hazardous substances, and dangerous goods compliance.
  • Experience in risk assessment and safety management for hazardous substances and laboratory equipment.
  • Supervisory experience and/or skills in staff and student training in laboratory settings (desirable).
