In this position you will:

  • Coordinate the National Coastal Drone Program (NCDP) delivery with regional partners
  • Centrally manage the NCDP and procurement of capital
  • Coordinate technology and data collection and processing standardisation
  • Support and potentially lead, applications for research and creative activities, including applications for external competitive funding, external funding for commercialisation and translation activities and other funding demonstrating sustained efforts
  • Initiate, design, conduct and may lead in development of industry partnerships and collaboration to enable major breakthroughs, innovative solutions for future translation into real world impact for coastal science

                                                                                                                                                                           

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in in coastal science, physical oceanography, coastal engineering, marine science or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and managing coastal field-based research or industry projects using drone technology
  • Experience in collecting, processing, extracting and utilising Drone technology for coastal erosion monitoring and other management applications such as the assessment of habitat condition
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Python or other programming and ability to manage development of code repositories via collaborative frameworks (i.e. GitHub)
  • Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications
