About the role

The Consultant, Deakin Transformation plays a key role in delivering and embedding change programs across the university. This position supports a wide range of organisational change initiatives, including cultural, technological, and workforce transformation, ensuring they are effectively implemented and sustained.

Working closely cross-functional teams, the Consultant drives engagement, alignment, and integration of Transformation and People and Culture efforts. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Deakin Transformation, this role is essential in supporting the seamless delivery of change and contributing to the university’s long-term goals.

As a Consultant, you will:

  • Plan, coordinate and support the delivery of change initiatives that enable cultural, workforce and organisational transformation
  • Partner with People & Culture to support leaders in aligning priorities, embedding cultural shifts, and integrating change within their teams
  • Provide expert change management advice and practical coaching to help leaders embed change and lead their teams through transition
  • Tailor communications and advice to meet the needs of diverse audiences, anticipating feedback and preparing clear, actionable recommendations
  • Mentor team members and foster a culture of continuous learning in change management.
  • Monitor, measure, and track the impact of transformation initiatives, identifying barriers and adjusting strategies to drive successful implementation.
  • Work within a networked model, supporting collaboration across People & Culture, Infrastructure & Digital, Finance & Assurance and Customer Experience teams. Ensure alignment in the implementation of change programs
  • Take ownership of critical administrative responsibilities related to change initiatives, including maintaining accurate data for decision making.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications, along with extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Proven experience as a business consultant or specialist in a business-related field.
  • Strong background in organisational change and transformation, particularly in implementing and embedding change initiatives in cultural, capability, technological, and workforce contexts.
  • Excellent administrative and data management skills, including the ability to handle sensitive data, maintain accurate records, and manage information critical to workforce planning and change projects.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, balancing competing priorities while supporting others to achieve shared goals.
  • Current Working with Children’s Check (Employee) or willingness to obtain.
