About the role:

The Senior Consultant, Gender Equity Programs leads strategic governance, compliance activities and reporting to ensure that the University fulfils its legislative obligations for the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (Cth) and the Gender Equality Act 2020 (Vic). This role will develop high quality, strategic reports, provide expert guidance and foster relationships to advance gender equity objectives, awareness and engagement across the University. The Senior Consultant, Gender Equity Programs provides advice, drives actions, delivers programs and liaises with key senior stakeholders to implement and deliver the Gender Equity Action Plan.

As a Senior Consultant, Gender Equity Programs you will:

  • Lead the development of initiatives that advance gender equality and inclusion for staff and students, provides data-driven strategic advice, and coordinates actions to ensure best practice, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance reporting in advancing gender equity.
  • Assist in the delivery of Deakin’s commitment to upholding the principles of Positive Duty and to ensuring staff and students comply with relevant legislation, in particular the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth), Gender Equality Act 2020 (Vic), Higher Education Support Act 2003, Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Disability Standards for Education 2005 and Positive Duty under the Equal Opportunity Act 2020 and Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA)
  • Provide advice on best practices, policy development and program implementation to advance gender equity
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on progress and impact to ensure measurable results.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops on gender equity topics, to enhance the capacity of leaders and staff to address gender-based challenges and promote inclusive practices
  • Collaborate closely with various stakeholders within the Integrity and Equity division and across the University to ensure alignment and successful delivery of initiatives

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in law and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and tailor training and education programs to suit a wide range of audiences
  • Extensive experience in program and project management and delivery within a complex organisation
