About the role:

Join Deakin University as a Senior Consultant, Gender Equity Programs and lead strategic governance, stakeholder engagement and reporting to advance equity and inclusion across the University. This role involves developing high-quality strategic reports, providing expert guidance, and fostering relationships to ensure the university can deliver on its strategic objectives. You will lead the development of initiatives that advance gender equality and inclusion for staff and students, provide data-driven strategic advice, and lead regulatory compliance reporting relating to gender equity. We are looking for an accomplished, values driven leader, looking to positively influence inclusion outcomes in a high performing organisation.

As a Senior Consultant, Gender Equity Programs you will:

  • Assist in the delivery of Deakin’s commitment to upholding the principles of Positive Duty and to ensuring staff and students comply with relevant legislation, in particular the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth), Gender Equality Act 2020 (Vic), Higher Education Support Act 2003, Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Disability Standards for Education 2005 and Positive Duty under the Equal Opportunity Act 2020 and Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA)
  • Provide advice on best practices, policy development and program implementation to advance gender equity
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on progress and impact to ensure measurable results.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops on gender equity topics, to enhance the capacity of leaders and staff to address gender-based challenges and promote inclusive practices
  • Collaborate closely with various stakeholders within the Integrity and Equity division and across the University to ensure alignment and successful delivery of initiatives

In a typical week, you will:

  • Develop briefing papers for an executive audience to influence strategic direction
  • Working with senior stakeholders to design and implement gender equity initiatives
  • Implementing strong governance mechanisms to ensure reporting accuracy and transparency
  • Working collaboratively as a member of the Equity and Inclusion leadership team

 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • Experience leading teams and functions in a large complex organisation
  • Extensive experience in leading governance, reporting and compliance activities relating to equity and inclusion
