About the role:
The Clinical Trials Hub Executive Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the strategic development, coordination, and delivery of Deakin’s Clinical Trials Hub. The position provides high-level operational leadership, governance oversight, and stakeholder engagement to enable efficient and compliant conduct of clinical trials across the University and its health partners. They will take a significant leadership role in the physical establishment of the CTH.
As a Executive Officer you will:
- Lead, develop, and manage the strategic and daily operations of the Clinical Trials Hub, ensuring efficient support for clinical trials and research teams across Deakin and partner health services, while maintaining compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Support the Director in implementing strategic initiatives and translating high-level goals into operational plans and outcomes.
- Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, including university faculties, government agencies, ethics committees, health partners, and industry sponsors, to support collaborative clinical trial activities.
- Oversee the development and delivery of an operational framework to build trial research capacity across Deakin that is compliant with Good Clinical Practice, regulatory requirements and Deakin policies.
- Initiate, lead and manage complex projects, including grant-funded initiatives, infrastructure development and systems improvements related to clinical research.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- High-level understanding of the clinical trial environment in Australia, including regulatory frameworks, GCP, and the roles of ethics and governance bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, including planning, implementation, reporting, and risk management in a health or research context.
- Experience contributing to and operationalising strategic plans in a university, health, or research setting.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including academic leaders, government bodies, and industry partners.
