About the role:
The Senior Officer, School Administration plays a key role in supporting the effective delivery of the School’s operational and academic priorities, with a particular focus on workforce planning and academic workforce initiatives. This position provides high-level administrative support and advice to the School Managers and academic staff, ensuring the coordination and delivery of administrative services align with University policies and strategic objectives. Although this position is based within the School of Psychology, the role will work across a number of schools within the Faculty. Due to this, there will be a need to balance competing priorities and work with School Managers where required to look at the overall requests and prioritise accordingly.
The role, in collaboration with the School Managers will also contribute to broader workforce planning activities, supporting the implementation and monitoring of the School’s response to Faculty-wide academic initiatives and staffing priorities.
The position requires a strong understanding of university systems and processes, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to coordinate and adapt administrative operations to meet evolving workforce requirements and strategic goals.
As a Senior Officer, School Administration you will:
- Collaborate proactively with School staff, Faculty Services and central Divisions, to ensure seamless coordination of school functions and the effective implementation of initiatives.
- Contribute to and lead projects in the School, Faculty Services and University supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
- Seek feedback from stakeholders regarding their satisfaction and perspective, respond to feedback with openness and transparency and identify opportunities for service improvement to enhance the customer experience.
- Provide ethical and solutions-focused advice to stakeholders on school administrative practices that address underlying matters, promoting value-adding insights and recommendations.
- Consult a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure efficient administrative support that meets the evolving needs of the School.
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external key stakeholders to support effective communication, coordination, and delivery of initiatives.
- Identify and lead process improvement across key areas such as academic workforce support and wider administrative operations, driving greater efficiency and compliance.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Experience in administration and related activities in a large organisation with complex administrative structures, policies and procedures.
- Experience in operating in a high-pressure diverse environment, involving face to face, phone and written issue.
- Experience providing services and support in a large organisation
