The Lecturer in Play Therapy is a vital academic role focused on contributing to an exceptional student learning experience and delivering strong educational outcomes. The successful candidate will actively promote the School and foster productive relationships with academic, industry, and professional communities.
This role involves making an independent contribution to the School’s teaching, research, and program development, particularly within the nested structure of therapeutic play and play therapy courses. It includes the supervision of clinical practice and the facilitation of experiential learning through creative and playful approaches.
We are seeking a candidate with clinical expertise and a strong record of, and passion for, scholarly learning and teaching. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a keen interest in advancing educational innovation and will actively contribute to community engagement—particularly through enhancing student employability and forging strong links with the health sector.
The incumbent will be focusing on teaching and learning and associated service. If required, the Head of School may require the incumbent to undertake some of the research tasks following consultation.
Interstate applicants are welcome to apply however please note that there is a requirement to attend on-campus intensives twice a year; one week in February and one week in July. All travel to Victoria will be at your own expense.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Master of Play Therapy and/or other relevant qualifications with relevant professional experience.
- Play therapy practice experience.
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs.
- Capacity to contribute to innovative curriculum design.
- Capacity to contribute to research and scholarship in a health-related discipline through publications and/or external research grants.
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
- Ability to deliver effective clinical teaching practices to improve student success and engagement, including play therapy clinical supervision.
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience in the field of play (desirable).
