About the role
The Senior Officer, School Administration is a key contributor to the smooth operation of Deakin Law School, providing high-level administrative support to the Dean, School Manager, and academic staff. This role focuses on executive assistance, project coordination, event oversight, and general administrative services. The position ensures alignment with university policies and supports the School’s strategic and operational priorities.
As a Senior Officer, School Administration, you will:
- Collaborate proactively with School staff, Faculty Services and central Divisions, to ensure seamless coordination of school functions and the effective implementation of initiatives.
- Contribute to and lead projects in the School, Faculty Services and University supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
- Oversee Deakin Law School events—coordinating with Partnerships and Engagement for external events and working with internal teams for internal-facing events.
- Seek feedback from stakeholders regarding their satisfaction and perspective, respond to feedback with openness and transparency and identify opportunities for service improvement to enhance the customer experience.
- Provide ethical and solutions-focused advice to stakeholders on school administrative practices that address underlying matters, promoting value-adding insights and recommendations.
- Consult a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure efficient administrative support that meets the evolving needs of the School.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Experience in administration and related activities in a large organisation with complex administrative structures, policies and procedures.
- Experience in operating in a high-pressure diverse environment, involving face to face, phone and written issue.
- Experience providing services and support in a large organisation.
