About this role:
The Specialist, Research Funding plays a key role in supporting academics to secure research funding and manage grants effectively. The position builds strong connections across Finance, Procurement, Business Development, and Faculty Research teams to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to research funding and collaboration.
As a Specialist, Research Funding, you will:
- Advise and support academic staff in preparing high-quality funding applications, including budgets aligned with University models.
- Ability to manage end-to-end processes with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience securing or managing CAT 1 and CAT 2-4 funding.
- Coordinate and contribute to Faculty-level assessments and reviews of research funding proposals.
- Foster collaboration between academic staff and key stakeholders across Finance, Procurement, Grants, and Commercialisation teams.
- Provide expert advice to senior Faculty leaders on funding opportunities and application performance.
- Partner with the Associate Dean Research to develop and implement strategies that drive sustained research funding success.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and management expertise; or
- Experience within the higher education sector
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement
