About PeopleServices

People Services is the operational arm of the People Function. Comprising of four dedicated teams (People Operations, Recruitment Services, People Systems and Reporting and People Connect) we provide the first point of contact for HR services to staff at Deakin. Key services include resolving general HR queries, payroll administration, end-to-end recruitment coordination and maintaining our People system, DeakinPeople. Sitting within the Customer Experience Service Hub, the People Services team partner with People and Culture to deliver a high quality, customer focused service that is reliable and trustworthy. These attributes combined enable us to strive for an efficient and enjoyable experience for our staff.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Coordinator to provide high level advice and support regarding all aspects of the employment life cycle. Developing key relationships across People Services and People and Culture, you will be supporting leaders and teams by enhancing the employee experience and resolving complex issues in a timely manner.

 

As a Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing accurate and timely advice for general employment lifecycle queries and issues and distilling core issues from complex information, while drawing accurate conclusions.
  • Condensing complex information and next steps into simple concise terms for clients and consulting with a diverse range of stakeholders and experts, to gain a broader and deeper understanding of a specific issue.
  • Investigating and probing for facts and identifying relevant solutions and selecting the most appropriate from the range of alternatives
  • Promoting technical solutions to modernise work practices and ensuring alignment with Deakin’s strategic direction.
  • Using analytics to identify key trends and themes to facilitate better decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Seeking feedback on improvement opportunities from a diverse range of key stakeholders and implementing change through appropriate channels, overcoming obstacles to change
  • Challenging existing processes by formulating creative and inclusive alternative solutions and benefits.
  • Planning and prioritising work and critical activities appropriately and recognising barriers to achieving outcomes, finding effective ways to deal with them and evaluating progress.
  • Acting as a coach and working with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback considering individual capability and team performance.

           

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of both
  • The capacity to incorporate diverse viewpoints when making decisions and offer guidance, while consistently aiming to surpass expectations.
  • Proficiency in offering expert and highly regarded advice, contributing to the achievement of desired outcomes for stakeholders.
  • The ability to actively support collaboration, share ideas, give constructive feedback, and show respect and value for others.
