This role will specifically be working within the Faculty Learning Innovation (Health) team in Deakin Learning Futures.
About the role:
As a member of Deakin Learning Futures, Deakin's teaching and learning support division, this position will see you support and provide advice to academic staff on teaching and learning matters across Deakin University by applying an evidence-based approach. You will also contribute to enhancing the quality of student learning experiences and outcomes by providing specialist hands-on support for curriculum and assessment design, provide teaching and learning capability building workshops and resources, and work with teaching teams to improve teaching practice. You will also make an important contribution to the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs and initiatives enabling innovation and excellence in Deakin's educational practice.
This role does not involve teaching students, but instead supports and advises academic staff and course teams across the Faculty of Health.
As a Lecturer, Learning Futures, you will:
- Provide advice, support, academic leadership and capability building in teaching and learning in higher education, particularly in curriculum design and assessment.
- Apply an evidence-based approach to support and advise academics in unit and course enhancement to enhance the quality of student learning experiences and outcomes.
- Contribute effectively to a culture of educational excellence and engage collaboratively with Faculty and Deakin Learning Futures colleagues on University strategic projects.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of educational research, practices and technologies impacting higher education including generative artificial intelligence, and work with Faculty of Health staff to develop tailored educational design strategies.
- Contribute to discipline-based educational or pedagogical research projects, and demonstrate an emerging reputation in teaching scholarship and pedagogical research.
- Engage in research, scholarly publication and conference presentation individually or in collaboration with others.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
- Experience in providing support and advice to academics in relation to enhancing curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
- Experience in contributing to the design and/or delivery of innovative teaching in health education in online, campus based and blended learning environments.
- An emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications, conference presentations/exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
