About the role:
The Senior Lecturer in Indigenous Studies, Education-focused Academic will lead unit and course teaching teams in UG and/or PG programs to improve the student learning experience and outcomes. The position will lead growing, increasingly productive, high-quality scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs. The Education-focused Academic will engage in and increasingly develop and lead academic or other collaborations that enable novel and high-quality teaching methodologies in the Indigenous Studies discipline area.
As a Senior Lecturer in Indigenous Studies, Education-focused, you will:
- Lead unit and course teaching teams to develop effective curricula and learning materials, implementing refinements as needed.
- Integrate industry, clinical, and research practices into course design to enhance student engagement and success.
- Lead the adoption of innovative curriculum design and deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching across various delivery modes.
- Develop accessible and inclusive course materials and learning opportunities, supporting diverse learners.
- Design effective assessments, provide clear criteria and feedback, and lead moderation to improve learning outcomes and student success.
- Provide academic support to students within units and courses, collaborating to improve student support services and optimise outcomes.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and educational excellence within the discipline, building effective teaching teams and supporting professional development.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
- Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
- PhD or significant progress towards achieving PhD in a relevant discipline and/or advanced qualifications and experience in the relevant discipline area
- Knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues.
- Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols, respect and communication.
- A demonstrated understanding of Indigenous knowledge systems and their relationship with western frameworks.
- Evidence of leadership in scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or post graduate programs, including innovative curriculum design and education development.
- University wide reputation in the scholarship of learning and teaching underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or conference presentations and/or success in obtaining funding for education innovation.
- Positive engagement with research, community, industry and government to enhance the national standing of the discipline.
- Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership of teaching and administration.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
