Accountabilities

As a Lecturer, Learning Futures, you will:

Education and Employability

  • Provide advice, support, academic leadership and capability building in teaching and learning in higher education, particularly in curriculum design and assessment.
  • Apply an evidence-based approach to support and advise academics in unit and course enhancement to enhance the quality of student learning experiences and outcomes.
  • Use co-design approaches to lead projects with teaching teams to enhance student learning through (re)design of curriculum, assessment and teaching.
  • Contribute effectively to a culture of educational excellence and engage collaboratively with Faculty and Deakin Learning Futures colleagues on University strategic projects.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of educational research, practices and technologies impacting higher education including generative artificial intelligence, and work with Faculty of SEBE staff to develop tailored educational design strategies.

Research and Innovation

  • Contribute to discipline-based educational or pedagogical research projects and demonstrate an emerging reputation in teaching scholarship and pedagogical research.
  • Engage in research, scholarly publication and conference presentation individually or in collaboration      

Key selection criteria

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Experience in providing support and advice to academics in relation to enhancing curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, particularly in the science, engineering, IT and built environment disciplines.
  • Experience in contributing to the co-design and/or delivery of innovative teaching in online, campus-based and blended learning environments.
  • Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or success in obtaining external research funding.
