As an Associate Lecturer, you will:
- Provide best in class clinical optometric care and ocular health outcomes to patients in our public facing optometry practice - Deakin Collaborative Eye Care clinic (DCECC)
- Ensure high quality teaching, observational and coaching experiences to students as part of the DCECC student placement clinics including our Dry Eye Clinic with potential to further develop into Glaucoma Clinic and Contact Lens Clinic by mutual agreement if required.
- Facilitate collaborative learning opportunities at the unit level. Adapt clinical instruction approach, learning material and practices to support diverse learners.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of student support and services and guide students to them where appropriate
- Undertake a commitment to the scholarship of learning and education
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Optometry qualification with therapeutic endorsement (e.g. BOptom, MOptom, OD)
- Current registration with the Optometry Board of Australia, enabling the practice of optometry in Australia, AHPRA
- Recent comprehensive clinical practice experience (within the past five years) with proven interest/experience in ocular surface /dry eye disease
- Experience in providing clinical or clinically relevant teaching to optometry students
- Endorsement to prescribe scheduled medicines in Australia
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
