About the role:
The Data Engineer is responsible for building and optimising data pipelines, managing ETL processes, and ensuring data quality and compliance across Deakin's research data platforms. This role collaborates on data model design and data standardisation and integrates new data sources to support effective reporting and drive decision-making.
As a Data Engineer, you will:
- Identify and lead ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into a usable format, and load it into data repositories, ensuring data quality and consistency.
- Consult a diverse range of stakeholders to respond to data and platform performance, monitoring, and drive the design and implementation of solutions that meet business requirements.
- Collaborate closely with data governance teams to ensure that data practices align with university-wide standards and policies, supporting compliance and data integrity across the BI environment.
- Develop and implement initiatives to automate data workflows and improve data processing efficiency, ensuring the BI platforms can scale with organisational growth.
- Establish systems and procedures to guide work, track progress, strive for excellence, and continually evaluate progress, and effectively overcome barriers to achieve outcomes.
- Provide specialist technical advice and solutions to support the effectiveness of Deakin’s business data platform.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A Degree with substantial subsequent relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Experience in designing, developing, and optimising data pipelines and ETL processes within enterprise data environments.
