Who are we?
The Research Development Academy provides a range of research training and professional development activities supporting researchers at all stages of their careers. We coordinate the research development of thought leaders and innovators, people with the discipline knowledge and professional skills necessary to push the frontiers of knowledge and make the world a better place in every respect. In addition, the Researcher Development Academy delivers graduate researcher strategy and operations across the HDR at Deakin.
The Senior Officer, Admissions and Scholarships is responsible for providing advice and assistance to prospective domestic and international candidates and academic staff on admission, enrolment and scholarship policies, procedures, and processes of graduate research.
As a Senior Officer, Admissions and Scholarships, you will:
- Provide advice to prospective candidates and staff on policy interpretation, procedures and administrative processes of graduate research degrees.
- Assess graduate research degree applications as determined with key stakeholders and coordinate the admissions, assessment and enrolment processes, complying with university policies and procedures.
- Coordinate admissions and enrolments relating to graduate research, including complex assessment of qualifications, processing international student applications, issuing offers, COE’s and processing enrolments.
- Resolve problems with minimal assistance, maintain systems and records, prepare statistical reports and correspondence and undertake general administrative tasks.
- Engage in process improvement activities and adopt new ideas to improve graduate researcher management support processes and practice.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Completion of a Degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or
- Completion of a Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience in a graduate research degrees or student services environment
- Knowledge of the policies and issues relating to research and research training in a tertiary environment
- Experience in dealing with confidential materials and sensitive matters
