Overview
The Senior Officer, Current Candidature is responsible for providing advice and assistance to current graduate research students and a range of university stakeholders on candidature policies, procedures, and processes of graduate research. The principal focus will be on current candidature management.
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Current Candidature the Senior Officer, Current Candidature will:
- Provide advice to staff and graduate research students on policy interpretation, procedures and administrative processes of graduate research.
- Work closely with key stakeholders in designated faculties providing advice and assistance on current candidature management.
- Coordinate candidature activities and resolve problems with minimal assistance.
- Maintain systems and records, prepare statistical reports and correspondence and undertake general administrative tasks.
- Coordinate candidate progress activities such as Annual Reviews, Confirmations of Candidature, and Progress Support Panels.
- Monitor and update relevant Deakin websites, including identification of gaps and potential improvements, as well as development of content as required.
- Engage in process improvement activities and adopt new ideas to improve candidature management support processes and practice.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Completion of a Degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or
- Completion of a Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience in a graduate research or student services environment
- Knowledge of the policies and issues relating to research and research training in a tertiary environment
- Experience in dealing with confidential materials and sensitive matters
