The Faculty of Psychology is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Psychology.

About the role:

This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching, a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.

This role will be responsible for delivering face-to-face seminars at Warrnambool in our undergraduate psychology courses. This person will also deliver online seminars and complete marking.

As an Associate Lecture in Psychology, Education-focused, you will:

  • Collaborate with design teams and Unit Chairs to develop effective learning materials and activities, integrating industry, clinical, and research practices to enhance student engagement and success. Deliver high-quality teaching within the unit, suggesting innovative approaches to improve student outcomes, and maintaining discipline knowledge to uphold teaching quality standards.
  • Assist in developing assessment tasks and rubrics, providing clear criteria and timely feedback to learners, and constructively contributing to moderation processes. Demonstrate awareness of student support services, guiding students appropriately, and facilitate collaborative learning opportunities while adapting practices to support diverse learners.
  • Engage in professional development programs in Higher Education Learning and Teaching and support scholarly and pedagogical research activities to enhance educational excellence. Contribute to Deakin's community engagement through local and global initiatives, maintaining industry or clinical links to enrich student learning experiences.

To be successful, you’ll have:  

  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
  • Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
  • PhD in psychology and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG psychology programs, including innovative curriculum design, and experience in delivering face-to-face and online seminars and/or lectures
  • Emerging record of scholarly learning and teaching in postgraduate or undergraduate programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
  • Possess or undertake (post-appointment) Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
