About this role:
The Senior Grant Writer will lead the development, coordination, and submission of large-scale, multi-investigator research grant proposals within the Alfred Deakin Institute’s vibrant interdisciplinary environment. Working closely with researchers across the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, this role is responsible for crafting high-quality, cohesive submissions to expand the Institute’s portfolio of Category 2–4 grants and support major Category 1 applications. The position involves drafting, refining, and finalising all proposal components and ancillary documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance with university and funding body requirements.
As a Senior Grant Writer, you will:
- Identify funding opportunities and support ADI researchers in building strong, multidisciplinary research teams.
- Lead strategic planning and development of major collaborative grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funding guidelines and university policies.
- Provide expert guidance on proposal compliance, budget development, and submission requirements across various grant platforms.
- Write, edit, and coordinate high-quality grant submissions, supporting researchers with documentation and post-submission processes.
- Deliver training, mentorship, and resources to enhance the grant writing capabilities of ADI researchers and strengthen future funding bids.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Arts, Humanities, and social sciences related field with extensive relevant experience or progress towards appropriate postgraduate qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in grant writing at institutional level
- Exceptional project management, organisational, and time-management skills to coordinate complex proposals and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, budgeting, and proofreading abilities with keen attention to detail.
