About the role:

The Mechatronics Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the Engineering Services team at ManuFutures by delivering end-to-end mechanical and electronic design, prototyping, and product development services. This role combines hands-on execution across mechanical design, prototyping, and product development with a strong foundation of practical industry experience gained over at least five years.

As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will:

  • Design and deliver electromechanical and automation systems across projects involving robotics, motion control, sensing, or digital manufacturing.
  • Develop and test embedded control systems, including the use of microcontrollers, PLCs, and industrial automation platforms.
  • Assist in the design and fabrication of system enclosures, fixtures, jigs, and mechatronic assemblies using CAD software.
  • Integrate sensor systems and build data acquisition and control platforms using open-source or commercial toolchains.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to understand technical requirements and constraints and support academic research translation and applied engineering outcomes by contributing to system design, build, integration, and field deployment.

 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A degree in mechatronics engineering with minimum 5 years industry experience. × Proven experience in designing and developing electromechanical systems for industry, R&D, or prototyping environments.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and circuit or PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad).
  • Working knowledge of embedded platforms (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32), PLCs, or other control systems.
  • Demonstrated capability in working directly with external clients or manufacturing partners in applied engineering settings.
  • Experience coordinating project teams or leading collaborative cross-functional efforts.
