As Senior Officer, Peer Support and Transition in Deakin’s Faculty of Arts and Education, you’ll bring to life engaging programs – from orientation and peer mentoring to social events, competitions and conferences – that connect students with each other and their new university community at Deakin.

As a Senior Officer, Peer Support and Transition, you will:

  • Design, implement and coordinate peer mentoring and transition programs tailored to the needs of commencing students within the Faculty.
  • Collaborate with academic and professional staff to support the successful orientation and transition of students into their courses.
  • Develop and deliver inclusive, culturally safe, and accessible transition experiences for diverse student cohorts, including international, first-in-family, and underrepresented groups.
  • Facilitate workshops, drop-ins, and small group sessions focused on student success, peer learning, and help-seeking behaviours.
  • Build strong working relationships with academic course teams, student services, and external partners to enhance student engagement and support offerings.

 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Administrative experience working within a large organisation with formal administrative structures, policies and procedures, preferably in a tertiary educational institution.
  • Customer service or student administrative experience, preferably in a tertiary educational institution.
  • Understanding of the student journey.
