About the Role:
A Qualified Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality food, maintaining kitchen standards, and contributing to an efficient, safe, and well-organised culinary operation. The role involves cooking, menu input, ensuring food safety compliance, and supporting the leadership and development of kitchen staff.
To be successful, you'll have:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen (restaurants, cafés, hotels, or catering).
- Food Safety knowledge and understanding of HACCP principles.
- Experience supervising or training junior staff (desirable).
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Strong culinary skills across a wide range of cooking techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Excellent time management, organisation, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Creativity and passion for food, flavour, and presentation.
- High attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
- Understanding of dietary requirements and ability to modify dishes accordingly.
- Reliability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a consistent, high standard.
- Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal specials.
- Maintain excellent food quality, portion control, and presentation.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards (HACCP).
- Manage stock levels, complete stock rotation, and minimise waste.
- Order ingredients and supplies in line with budget and operational needs.
- Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff and apprentices.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain a clean, well-organised kitchen environment at all times.
- Work collaboratively with FOH staff to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.
- Support head chef or management with kitchen administration tasks as required.
