The Role
The role of the Physiotherapist within Amana Living is to provide physiotherapy services to residents within Amana Living’s residential care facilities. Our Physiotherapists assess the physical and mobility needs of residents.
They plan person-centred interventions that aid residents to maintain or improve their functional ability and quality of life, and deliver and evaluate these therapeutic interventions. We are currently seeking applications from experienced and proactive Physiotherapists to provide support at our Bull Creek Transition Care facility.
This position is based at our Bull Creek Transition Care.
This role is offered on a permanent part time basis working Tuesdays & Fridays (0830-1645), 30.4 hours per fortnight.
Key responsibilities:
- Provides assessments for resident mobility, falls risk and related musculo skeletal and neurological conditions.
- If there are admissions, you would be expected work closely in collaboration with the existing Occupational Therapists.
- Formulates treatment objectives for the purpose of restoration or maintenance of function.
- Frequently reviews treatment objectives to ensure their continued application.
- Implements and supervises pain management clinics. Provides treatment programs to address problems of movement and/or, function on an individual or group basis.
- Records treatment results and disseminates information to all relevant treatment personnel.
- Consults on the selection of aids and equipment for specific and general use.
- Evaluates effectiveness of physiotherapy programs.
- Consults with Service/Centre Operations Manager, and caring staff on matters pertinent to the physiotherapy program.
- Supervises physiotherapy assistants/students and work experience personnel.
- Contributes to the preparation of annual physiotherapy budgets.
- Ensures required records are maintained and maintains timely and accurate documentation including ACFI reporting.
- Initial assessment of resident on admission, and annual review and when required.
- Orders materials and supplies in conjunction with Service/Centre Operations Manager.
- Ensures maintenance and economic and safe use of all resources and equipment.
- Effectively communicates with a variety of people, including the public and other health professionals.
- Participates in ensuring a workplace that is free from discrimination and harassment.
- To take responsibility for a safe working environment in order to prevent injury to self, fellow staff members and others
About you
The ideal candidate will have experience in physiotherapy assessment and program development, as well as delivering evidence-based physiotherapy interventions within the Aged Care or Health Services sector. You will have strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapist)
- Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).
- Previous experience working with people living with dementia.
- Evidence of COVID-19 and Current Flu vaccinations per Amana Living policies
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical and reference checks
- NDIS Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain at interview stage)
- Must be willing to attend a 2-day Induction based at our Amana Living Training Institute from 8:30am-4pm.
