Guilford Young College invites applications for the pivotal role of Business Manager, a senior leader within the College Executive and Leadership Team. This position plays a critical role in advancing the strategic and operational success of the College by overseeing finance, commercial operations, property, human resources, and compliance—while upholding our Catholic mission and values.

The Business Manager works collaboratively across all facets of College life to ensure GYC remains a flourishing provider of high-quality Catholic education. This role requires a deep commitment to promoting the Catholic ethos in every interaction and decision, alongside consistent alignment with College policies, identity, and values.

As the Business Manager, you will:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership through robust budgeting, modelling, and reporting practices; foster strong relationships with external financial stakeholders; manage fee structures and compliance processes; and ensure transparent financial governance in service to the College Advisory Board and broader community.
  • Lead strategic planning and operational oversight of College infrastructure, including capital projects, property compliance, maintenance, asset management, WHS protocols, and risk governance.
  • Lead and support non-teaching staff through effective HR, IR, and performance systems, fostering team cohesion, professional excellence, and a culture grounded in collaboration and integrity.

Key Professional Attributes & Compliance Credentials

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing core business functions—finance, property, HR, and strategic planning—with a focus on continuous improvement and service excellence
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal, decision-making, and collaboration skills, capable of leading complex projects and driving organisational change
  • Depth of experience in regulatory compliance, governance, budgeting, and risk management, supported by strong IT proficiency and commercial acumen
  • Clear alignment with the mission and ethos of Catholic education, contributing meaningfully to College-wide strategy and community-focused leadership
  • CPA-equivalent tertiary qualifications and eligibility for Working with Vulnerable Persons registration and National Police Clearance.
