Monday – Friday 10.30am – 2.30pm
Our school is situated just outside the heart of the city of Burnie. We have a tradition of Catholic Education spanning 154 years in the Burnie community. Our school is a double stream school with two of each grade level from Kindergarten to Grade 6 with a total of 460 students.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Administration Assistant to join our team. This role provides the first point of contact for the School and is central to the effective delivery of reception, administration and office support services. The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service, uphold the Catholic ethos of the School, and work collaboratively to support positive learning outcomes for all students.
About the Role
The Administration Assistant is responsible for delivering high-quality reception and administrative support, ensuring the smooth operation of the School office. Working under the direct supervision of the Finance Officer and reporting to the Principal, the role requires professionalism, accuracy, confidentiality and a warm, welcoming presence.
Core responsibilities include:
- Providing friendly, welcoming and professional first point-of-contact services to staff, students, parents and visitors.
- Responding to routine enquiries and redirecting as appropriate.
- Ensuring reception and office areas are tidy, organised and inviting.
- Providing first aid or administering medication in line with School policies.
- Processing financial transactions including accounts payable and weekly payment batches.
- Maintaining accurate student, staff and volunteer records.
- Coordinating absentee records and parent notifications.
- Assisting with School social media content and website updates.
Required Skills, Experience and Attributes
- Experience in reception or customer service.
- Strong data processing and administrative skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing demands.
- Demonstrated reliability, flexibility and initiative.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Valid Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
- Current and satisfactory National Police Criminal History Check.
- Accreditation A: Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable
- Certificate III in Business Administration (or equivalent).
- Current First Aid qualification.
- Current Tasmanian driver licence.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024.
