St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is seeking dependable, safety-focused and friendly Bus Drivers to join our school community. This important role provides safe and reliable transportation for our students while creating a welcoming and positive experience for children and families each day.

Located in the picturesque mining town of Rosebery, St Joseph's is a co-educational Catholic primary school. As one of only two Catholic schools on the West Coast, we play an important role in the life of the West Coast Parish, serving families from Rosebery, Zeehan and Tullah.

About the Role

As one of our Bus Drivers, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and on occasional school-related outings.

You will play a valuable role in supporting student wellbeing by ensuring every journey is safe, respectful and enjoyable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the school bus in accordance with road laws and safety regulations.
  • Conduct daily vehicle safety and maintenance checks.
  • Ensure students travel in a safe, orderly and respectful environment.
  • Follow designated routes and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records and report any incidents or concerns.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families and school staff.
  • Represent St Joseph's Catholic School in a professional and friendly manner.

About You

We are looking for experienced drivers who are:

  • Safe and responsible drivers with an excellent driving record
  • Reliable, punctual and highly organised
  • Friendly, approachable and able to build rapport with students and families
  • Calm, patient and confident when working with children
  • Committed to maintaining a safe and positive environment
  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration
  • Current and satisfactory National Police Criminal History Check (NPCHC)
  • Current drivers license

Desirable

  • Knowledge of manual handling practices
  • Current Tasmanian Light Rigid vehicle driver’s license

Catholic Education Tasmania and St Joseph’s Catholic School are committed to supporting the rights of children and young people and providing a safe and supportive environment for them. The successful candidate will require satisfactory child safety checks and registrations.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024.
