About The Role

Our Health Records Department is a small team of Clinical Coders and Clerical Support based in a small, friendly, supportive environment.  This role is a very important part of our administrative roles within our organisation.

As a Medical Records Clerk within our medical records department, your role involves supporting the organised and efficient functioning of Health Information Services.

 

Reporting to the Health Information Manager, your duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Health Information Manager to address and resolve queries from both internal and external Health Professionals
  • Handling medical record requests
  • Retrieving on-site medical records for forthcoming admissions and record requests
  • Ordering offsite records via online portals
  • Following up on outstanding medical record deficiencies (eg pathology)
  • Following up on high priority coding list
  • Filing of loose reports and correspondences
  • Filing of discharged coded medical records
  • Conducting filing, archiving and "culling" of medical records
  • Assisting to compile medical records of discharged patients
  • Assisting and supporting Clinical Coding Team as require.

 

You will be required to work a five-day fortnight.  Week 1 Mon, Tues, Wed and Week 2 Thu & Fri 0900 to 1530 

 

Your Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Enthusiasm for patient care and a commitment to delivering customer-focused services at a high standard.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with colleagues, patients and families.
  • Capability to handle demanding situations and meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated respect for privacy and confidentiality.
  • Proven initiative-taking when required.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge and literacy.
  • Previous experience in a medical records department or similar clerical role within a healthcare setting.
  • While prior experience in a private hospital setting is preferred, it is not essential.  

 

Remuneration: On offer is base hourly rate ranging from $36.59  + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
