The Opportunity

Ramsay is seeking a National Deputy Manager of Patient Safety and Clinical Risk to play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of the organisation’s patient safety and risk management strategies. This position involves upholding national care standards, ensuring rigorous clinical compliance, and overseeing comprehensive reporting and benchmarking. The role offers a unique opportunity to drive enhancements in patient outcomes and support strategic initiatives that shape the future of patient care.

What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate clinical incident management meetings and perform thorough reviews of incidents.
  • Monitor and report on clinical risk indicators, adverse events, and patient complaints.
  • Ensure clinical policies and quality improvement programs are aligned to enhance clinical outcomes.
  • Support Hospital Executives in implementing patient care and safety initiatives.
  • Oversee initiatives to assess and improve patient care quality.
  • Aid in executing the Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Framework.
  • Contribute to the organisation's data governance strategies.
  • Support the National Clinical Governance Unit to enhance quality and risk management through comprehensive reporting.

What You’ll Bring

To excel in this role, you must be a senior health professional with deep clinical governance expertise and a proven track record in collaborating across complex organisations. You should drive quality improvements, analyse patient safety incidents, influence stakeholders, manage conflicts, and lead by example with a strong commitment to regulatory and evidence-based practices. Accountability and ownership of outcomes are essential.

Key skills and experience you bring to the role include:

  • Senior health professional with clinical qualifications in medicine, nursing, or allied health, and ideally a post-graduate degree in health management, quality improvement, or patient safety.
  • Deep expertise in quality, accreditation, and patient safety, including adverse event investigation methods and relevant legislation.
  • Proven experience in leading critical incident investigations, crafting SMART recommendations, and establishing effective monitoring for risk mitigation.
  • Skilled in analysing quality, safety, and clinical outcomes, identifying trends, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships, network, and influence stakeholders to support patient safety and quality initiatives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance compliance, including relevant legislation and standards.
  • Successful track record as a senior clinical manager in large, complex healthcare settings.
  • Expertise in providing advisory support to health Executives and hospital managers.
