An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and driven Payroll Leader to join our National Payroll team based in Melbourne as a Team Leader.

 

The Role

Reporting to the National Payroll Operations Manager, the Payroll Team Leader will be responsible for leading a busy and focused team of payroll professionals to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services to multiple sites and for communicating and escalating issues noted to the relevant stakeholder. They will work closely with relevant stakeholders across the business to drive process improvement, standardisation, and automation across Ramsay Health Care’s payroll operations.

This role will include coordinating and running the end-to-end payroll process for the state and managing the operational requirements of the team, including the provision of training and guidance to staff.

  • Coordinate and oversee payroll staff to ensure that the payroll is completed accurately, and all deadlines are met according to required standards
  • Prepare and process necessary documentation for new starters, redundancies, and terminations and ensure accurate maintenance of all personnel records
  • Produce and send accurate STP files
  • Ensure payrates are updated as per EBA schedules
  • Advise National Payroll Operations Manager of issues with pay rules or other operational issues impacting accurate payroll processing
  • Prepare and maintain staff roster and task allocations for state payroll team, including coordination and approval of leave
  • Monitoring of payroll teams’ work performance and communication of staffing issues to National Payroll Operations Manager
  • Detect and report any compliance issues or matters
  • Communicate payroll matters with relevant stakeholders including employees, hospital managers and human resources staff as required

 

Skills and Experience

  • Substantial experience in leading a payroll team
  • Experience with computerised payroll systems
  • Experience interpreting Industrial Instruments
  • Sound understanding of regulatory issues surrounding PAYG Tax, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, Workers Compensation, Salary Packaging and FBT as they pertain to payroll processing
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a team of staff to meet deadlines and requirements
  • Ability to plan, co-ordinate, and prioritise multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent computer skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using Chris 21, payroll, HRIS systems and Rostering (desirable)
