Are you a dynamic nurse leader passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care? Peninsula Private Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Theatre Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to support our perioperative leadership team.
About Us
Peninsula Private Hospital has 8 Operating Theatres and an Emergency Department servicing the Peninsula, with key specialties including cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, plastic surgery, gynaecology, colorectal surgery and urology. These specialties are supported by an Intensive Care Unit on site as well as a Coronary Care Unit situated within our cardiac ward. In addition, there is an oncology ward and a Day Infusion Unit. We also have an established maternity service including a Special Care Nursery.
About the Role
In this role, you will be a key member of the Perioperative Services Management team ensuring the delivery of high standard patient care and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership in daily theatre operations and workforce planning.
- Drive a positive and inclusive culture by fostering collaborative relationships with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Empower staff through targeted support and promotion of professional development initiatives.
- Be a strong leader in driving quality improvement initiatives, implementing and monitoring healthcare standards and incorporating proactive risk management strategies to ensure quality patient care and staff safety.
- Lead and promote flexible and adaptive theatre scheduling and case management to optimise patient flow and resource utilisation
- Oversee resource allocation, inventory control, and compliance with healthcare standards
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
About You:
To excel in this position, you will have the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor as part of the Perioperative management team. As a leader, you will be driven by a passion for helping your team members succeed and develop, while also demonstrating a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer care and service. You will bring a keen eye for strategic management of clinical staff, financial and material resources and an understanding of patient flow in the perioperative setting. You will be able to manage competing priorities and thrive in a busy theatre complex.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant qualifications and Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Perioperative Nursing, Business and/or Management (or working towards) highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years extensive clinical skills and nursing experience within the Perioperative Setting
- Experience in a Management role within the perioperative setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Clinical expertise and commitment to high quality patient care
Ability to effectively plan and manage financial, human and capital resources
Requirements
- Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
- According to the role, Ramsay may require a Working-With-Children check and proof of immunisation against infectious diseases.
