About the Role

Mt Waverly Private Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our supportive and friendly team.

We are looking for a Nurse to take on the role of the Cancer Care Navigator and who has extensive experience in looking after people with cancer. The role is patient centred and supports newly diagnosed cancer patients from diagnosis through the cancer pathway. Understanding and navigating the complex world of cancer treatment can be overwhelming for patients.

The role is personalised to the patient's needs, identifies what matters to patients, psychosocial support, support decision making during cancer treatment; provides information about cancer treatment and wellbeing. 

The Cancer Care Navigator is a central point for the patient throughout all treatment phases eg surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and transition to survivorship care needs.  And they work alongside the clinical team.  

 

About You

Key success factors of the role are the ability to lead and develop a new service, be able to effectively communication and build rapport with patients, and build effective relationships with cancer specialists, nursing and allied health in the hospital, outpatient and related services including exercise, nutritional support, or psychological support.

You will also bring;

  • Eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia  
  • Minimum of three years post registration in specialty area of Oncology nursing of relevant experience in advanced practice   
  • Understanding of scope of practice in line with relevant registration 
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and initiatives supporting the customer experience
  • Understanding of health fund requirements for cancer care services ( desirable) 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and independently as required 
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Proven project management skills with sound organisational change management skills 
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills 

 

Remuneration

On offer is a base hourly rate ranging from: $59.55 -62.53 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (VIC RN/Midwife gr5)

Requirements
