Senior House Officer – CICM Trainee Foundation/Elective Training Program

  • 18 bed ICU/CCU/HDU combined unit
  • 6-12 month contract with regular anaesthetic rostering

About the Opportunity

Accredited with CICM for foundation and elective training. You will be working within the hospital framework and be supported by the Director of ICU and Intensivists as you undertake your foundation/elective training.

  • 6-12 month appointment
  • Regular rostered exposure to anaesthetics
  • Regular departmental education sessions aiming to prepare for CICM primary exam
  • Regular teaching of procedural skills/ALS/SIM sessions

St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital is a 214 bed acute and rehabilitation hospital with 11 operating theatres, Cardiovascular Lab, Maternity Services, Renal, Oncology and Emergency Department.  Founded in 1909, St Andrew’s maintains focus on growing our offering to the local community and providing excellence in patient-centred care. Our Comprehensive Cancer Centre is due to open in 2023 and will provide onsite Radiation Oncology and an expanded 12 chair Infusion Centre and a 20 chair Renal Dialysis Service.

About You

You will have excellent communication and an interest in providing high quality private health care in a team-based environment. You will have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in intensive care medicine (or Anaesthesiology) and be eligible to participate in the training requirements of the Foundation Training program for CICM trainees (essential for formal CICM training program) and elective ICU training as part of RACP, ACRRM, ACEM, FRACGP.

To be successful, you will:

  • Hold AHPRA Registration (essential)
  • Minimum 3 years Medical Officer experience
  • Procedural skills (invasive lines/intubation) (desirable)
  • Have an evidence based, best practice approach to patient centred care
  • Be available for work shift work over a 7 day roster (12 hour shifts)
