The Opportunity

This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of clinical coding practices across Ramsay facilities statewide. As an Auditor Educator, you will deliver training and education to clinical coders, enhancing their proficiency and adherence to Australian Coding standards. Collaborating with the National Health Information Management team and fellow Auditor Educators, you will contribute to a unified framework for training, education, and auditing, supporting, and advocating for the HIM, Coder, and CDS workforce across Ramsay Health Care. About You

To excel in this role, you are a skilled Auditor Educator with expertise in clinical coding and Australian Coding standards. Passionate about training coders, you’ll ensure compliance and proficiency across Ramsay facilities. Collaboration, strong communication, and attention to detail are key to supporting the HIM, Coder, and CDS workforce.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conducting audit activities to support the Ramsay Clinical Coding Audit Program’s success.
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of audit frameworks, systems, analytics, and processes.
  • Analysing internal and external clinical coding audits to identify risks, share learnings, and implement controls.
  • Promoting a ‘get it right the first time’ approach through real-time quality assurance activities.
  • Encouraging a culture of good documentation, accurate code assignment, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Contributing to the skills development, mentoring, and professional growth of coders.
  • Fostering teamwork and collaboration across hospitals, departments, and teams.
  • Assisting sites with the management and resolution of external clinical coding audits.
  • Providing support to Clinical Documentation Specialists through advice, subject matter expertise, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Participating in the development of national educational resources such as a Coder Education Program and Coder Competency Program.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Clinical Classification (or equivalent).
  • Certificate in External Clinical Coding Auditing (or equivalent experience).
  • Advanced understanding and application of clinical coding using ICD-AM/ACHI and ACS.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to changes in coding standards and practices.
  • Well-developed feedback and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict timeframes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Associate Diploma or Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Record Administration or Health Information Management (or equivalent).
  • Eligibility for membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA).
  • Experience using Meditech patient administration software.
  • Proven clinical coding auditing experience with demonstrated successful outcomes.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Knowledge of health fund contracts and experience in participating in health fund audits.
