The Opportunity

Ramsay is searching for a proactive and meticulous Procurement Category Lead to champion our strategic sourcing efforts for biomedical capital equipment and service arrangements. Reporting directly to the Capital Procurement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective procurement while upholding high standards of quality and compliance. Additionally, you will oversee the identification, development, and implementation of complex procurement projects, and lead procurement support for clinical capital purchases, replacements, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Please be advised that this position is a 24-month contract opportunity.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain category strategies and agreements aligned with business objectives and operational needs.
  • Lead strategic sourcing activities, negotiations, tender evaluations, and other initiatives through to contracting and implementation, including effective change management.
  • Drive initiatives and process improvements to achieve cost savings, efficiencies, and enhanced sustainability across the organisation.
  • Apply a "Total Cost of Ownership" approach when identifying and evaluating opportunities.
  • Implement robust Supplier Relationship Management processes across clinical capital spend categories and with suppliers.
  • Identify and mitigate supplier-related risks, including their participation in the Ramsay ESG program.
  • Track, analyse, and report on procurement and supplier performance within each category, showcasing cost savings and process enhancements through dashboards and monthly reports.
  • Foster a collaborative engagement model with business stakeholders, procurement colleagues, and supplier representatives to achieve timely and commercially beneficial outcomes.

What You’ll Bring

To thrive in this role, you'll need to be a self-starter, capable of working under pressure, adept at problem-solving, and skilled at translating opportunities into tangible cost-saving outcomes.

Key skills and experience you bring to the role include:

  • Minimum 3 years of procurement experience as a Procurement Buyer or Category Lead, with a focus on capital equipment purchases and associated maintenance agreements in the healthcare sector.
  • Understanding of "Total Cost of Ownership" and its practical application in equipment procurement.
  • Experience in drafting contract terms and conditions, including SLAs and KPIs related to capital equipment.
  • Proven grasp of procurement methodologies and category management approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of contractual agreements and supplier relationship management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and influence professionally across all organisational levels.
  • Advanced analytical, evaluation, and research skills, with a track record of implementing new concepts and delivering innovative solutions and savings.

  • Proficiency in SAP
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM)
