The Opportunity

This opportunity will see you joining our team as a ward clerk on our Inpatient Rehabilitation Ward, providing administrative support and assistance to patients and their families. You will also assist the administration and clinical teams by coordinating the necessary clerical requirements for patients’ admission to discharge.

This opportunity is a permanent part-time role (60 hours/fortnight - Monday – Friday 6-hour shifts)

 

About the Position

You will be working closely with the NUM and clinical team in providing administrative support in order to assist in the smooth operation of the ward. Some of the responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Handling enquiries from clinical staff, doctor’s patients & their families
  • Checking coverage of patients and ensuring all relevant documentation is complete and signed
  • Revenue – Chasing up unsigned documentation relevant to the billing process, taking payments if applicable
  • Meditech functions – Creating preadmissions, admitting, discharging, transfer, data entry, running relevant reports etc.
  • Medical records – requesting, tracking and collating patient charts

 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be an enthusiastic individual with a passion for customer service. The ability to converse and be empathetic while managing a busy flow of incoming and outgoing patients is a key skill needed for this role. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and should be comfortable working in a team of doctors, nurses, pathologists, administrators, and non-clinical staff.

This role will suit an individual with proven medical administration experience as this is a fast-paced environment.

 Key Skills and Experience 

  • Intermediate-advanced skills utilising the Microsoft office suite
  • Experience using Patient Information Systems (highly desirable i.e. Meditech)
  • Certificate in Medical Terminology (Desirable)
  • Experience in hospital mainframe systems (Desirable)
  • A professional phone manner with experience managing incoming and outgoing calls
  • Proven ability to work in a customer service focused environment

 

Remuneration

A base hourly rate $31.49+ superannuation, based on relevant, skills experience and qualifications. (Grade 3 - Year 1)

Requirements

  • Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
