Clinical Nurse (Coordinator) - Inpatient Eating Disorders Program (Mental Health)
An exciting opportunity is available to become an integral member of the Eating Disorders (ED) Program at Ramsay Clinic - Hollywood Hospital in Nedlands, Western Australia.
Ramsay Clinic Hollywood Eating Disorder Program:
The Inpatient Eating Disorder Program currently has 10 dedicated inpatient beds and accepts clients 16 years+. The program comprises of a multidisciplinary team, including specialist psychiatrists, dieticians, psychologists, mental health nurses, peer-support workers, and exercise physiologists to deliver intensive inpatient care to individuals struggling with eating disorders. The program aims to provide medical stabilisation and nutritional rehabilitation with daily specialised group therapy.
Applicant Responsibilities:
General:
- Coordination of clinical services in the inpatient ED program and collaborating with peers to ensure consistent and safe clinical practice across the service.
- Applying clinical expertise and knowledge in all facets of caring for mental health patients, whilst demonstrating a high level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills within the clinical setting.
- Maintaining communication networks with psychiatrists, registered medical officers, patients, colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure quality clinical outcomes are achieved.
- Identify needs of patients and relaying these to the relevant team members and other health care professionals as required.
Eating Disorders Program Specific:
- Collating referrals to ED programs from external sources, including liaising with external/referral sources.
- Patient care duties including, but not limited, to:
- Providing meal support and coaching in the clinical setting.
- Coordinating specified activities (e.g. walks on hospital grounds).
- Facilitating therapy groups (e.g. behavioural activation, psychoeducation, carers’ support groups, etc.).
- Consulting with patient families
- Attending Multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Educating and supporting allied health and nursing staff.
- Improving patient experience during admission into the program.
- Assisting with collection of statistics for research purposes.
- Discharge preparation including liaising with external/referral sources.
Essential Criteria:
- Registration with AHPRA.
- Relevant post graduate qualification, plus 12 months experience working in the clinical specialty/area OR
- A minimum of 4 years post registration experience, including 3 years’ experience in a mental health setting (inpatient and outpatient).
- Knowledge and previous experience working with eating disorders in a clinical setting.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated by the ability to engage clients, and liaise and consult with relevant family members, as well as a broad range of health professionals, and community agencies where relevant.
- Understanding scope of practice.
- Demonstrable ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team structure.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the nursing assessment and care of a range of complex and co-occurring mental health disorders including knowledge and understanding of eating disorders & disordered eating.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge and experience facilitating process-orientated group/psychoeducation group therapy.
Remuneration: On offer is a full-time equivalent, base annual salary ranging from; $102,387.90 - $108,784.58 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (WA Clinical Nurse/Midwife Level 2 gr1-gr4)
