Casual opportunities 

 

The Opportunity

  • As an Orthopaedic Technician, you will work as an integral member of the clinical team by supporting theatre personnel to prepare the theatre environment for the appropriate procedure.
  • This will include positioning patients and ensuring patient safety and dignity is maintained at all times, while complying with legislative guidelines and the policies and procedures of Joondalup Private Hospital and Ramsay Health Care.
  • Work in the CSSD – involving the cleaning of orthopaedic instruments and the setting up of Orthopaedic trays.

Your role will also involve, but is not limited to;

  • Adhering to guidelines and maintaining the sterile field during surgery; and
  • Undertaking designated cleaning tasks in accordance with documented procedures and schedule to ensure high standards of cleanliness (including personal) are maintained.

Flexibility to work across a seven-day rotating roster, including morning, afternoon and evenings is critical for this role. 

 

About You

Principle Responsibility

Liaise with Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Nurse, Orthopaedics as a resource for orthopaedic equipment and other technical equipment as requested.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Certificate III in Operating Theatre Technician Practice (or equivalent) or working towards - desirable
  • Recent relevant experience and understanding of issues associated with acute care / perioperative settings
  • Participate as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment.
  • Able to carry out duties within Operating Rooms environment.
  • Act as a resource for all Operating Rooms staff with regard to orthopaedic surgery.
  • Liaise with Clinical Coordinator Orthopaedics and Clinical Nurse Manager in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures relevant to orthopaedic surgery.
  • Ensure the maintenance of excellence in the delivery of patient care, through the development and provision of orthopaedic resources.
  • Basic understanding of infection control principles
  • Display high level of communication skills to enable effective communication with all levels of staff and medical personnel.
  • Able to carry out duties within Operating Rooms environment.
  • Willingness to accept and promote Ramsay’s core values.

 

Candidates with prior experience in an Orthopaedic setting will be highly regarded. 

 

Remuneration:

PACT agreement Level 4.1 to 4.4 based on experience + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
