We are currently seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our dynamic Theatre Support Team at St Andrew's Ipswich Private Hospital. We are seeking Patient Service Assistants and Theatre Orderly - Theatre Set Up.

Both roles are integral to the efficient functioning of our Perioperative Department and offer the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

 

Patient Service Assistant – Theatre Set Up

As a Patient Service Assistant - Theatre Set Up's – You will play a vital role in supporting the operating theatre teams by preparing set up's for required for surgical procedures. As a Patient Service Assistant – Theatre Set Up, you will play an essential part in preparing operating theatres for surgical procedures, working under the guidance of the Theatre Consumables Coordinator. Your efforts will directly contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients on arrival and help them settle into their room or theatre.
  • Provide non-clinical support to patients under the direction of clinical staff.
  • Perform cleaning duties in patient rooms, theatres, and shared hospital spaces.
  • Safely transport patients using designated hospital equipment.
  • Prepare surgical set-ups in line with daily theatre lists and surgical schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with the Theatre Consumables Coordinator and Floor Coordinator to ensure all necessary equipment and consumables are ready.
  • Return unused equipment and consumables to designated storage areas in a timely manner.

 

To Succeed in This Role, You Will Have:

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow through on tasks.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.

Skills & Experience:

  • Certificate III in Aged Care, Health Services, or Care Support Services (desirable).
  • Understanding of infection control and manual handling protocols.

Highly Regarded:

  • Nursing students in their 2nd or 3rd year of study.
  • Certificate IV in Health Services.

 


Theatre Orderly

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, the Theatre Orderly plays a key role in assisting the clinical team with the safe and efficient operation of the theatre suite. You will work closely with nurses and anaesthetic staff to ensure surgical areas are ready and patient flow is seamless.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport patients within the Perioperative department.
  • Assist with theatre setup, equipment preparation, and patient positioning.
  • Maintain cleanliness of theatres and manage clinical waste.
  • Support daily operations of the theatre team.

Skills & Experience:

  • Certificate III in Operating Theatre Technician Practice (or equivalent) – essential
  • Previous experience in an operating theatre – essential
