An opportunity currently exists for a Nurse Unit Manager - to lead the Post-Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU), Second Stage Recovery, Day of Surgery Admission (DOSA), Pre-Admission Clinic, and Pain Service. We are seeking a candidate with strong management and leadership skills to guide a dedicated, highly qualified, and professional team.
Reporting into the Director of Clinical Services, this role is accountable for the efficient and effective operation of the PACU perioperative department.
We are seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse with management expertise who is available, to work on a full-time basis, with reasonable additional hours necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position.
The Position
This role will work closely with the Executive team to shape organisational strategy, improve procedural service provision and achieve departmental and Hospital strategic objectives. The position is also responsible for working with and supporting other managers in achieving excellence in care delivery in line with best practices and legislative requirements.
You will be accountable for the efficient and effective organisation of all human and material resources within the department. The role encompasses planning, implementing and evaluating practices, processes and services.
The Person
The successful candidate will have exceptional customer service, strong communication and interpersonal skills and meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse qualification with AHPRA registration
- Extensive PACU skills and experience within a Hospital Perioperative environment
- Tertiary management qualification desirable ( or working towards)
- Demonstrated management and decision-making skills, and previous experience in a management position
- Strong prioritising skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Effective skills in rostering to achieve manhour, agency and skill mix targets
- Demonstrated continuous improvement achievements including planning, developing, implementing and evaluating a continuous improvement program
- Demonstrated ability to train and coach others
- Solid computer skills
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with team members
