An exciting casual opportunity is available for a motivated Ward Clerk to bring their strong customer service and organisational skills to our day rehabilitation and inpatient wards. Multiple casual positions available.
You will be part of a diverse and collaborative team, providing essential administrative support across multiple areas, including:
- Inpatient wards.
- Day patient programs and specialties.
About the Role
Your primary responsibility will be to deliver a professional, efficient, and customer-focused service across our front-of-house areas, with a key focus on admissions and inpatient ward administration.

Your duties will include:
- Providing excellent customer service across all aspects of the Department.
- Answering phones promptly, efficiently and with a friendly demeanour.
- Conducting Health Fund eligibility checks to confirm patients’ eligibility for hospital stays.
- Completing preadmission and informed financial consent procedures for both day and overnight patients.
- Processing all booking requests from intake team and reviewing theatre lists.
- Thoroughly checking all received paperwork and initiating follow-up actions as necessary, ensuring patients possess the appropriate level of health fund coverage.
- Recording all bookings accurately in the relevant system, such a Meditech.
- Ensuring the successful implementation and consistent adherence to standard policies, processes, and documentation within the Revenue Cycle.
About You

Additionally, you should have:
- Previous experience in health services, especially in a hospital or with doctors and specialists is highly valued.
- Ability to complete tasks within the set timeframes.
- Capability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, particularly the MS Office Suite.
- Experience in medical billing.
- Familiarity with health funds and contract interpretations.
- Flexibility to cover different shifts as required.
Desirable:
- Certificate in Medical Terminology.
- Experience in hospital mainframes systems.
