The Opportunity
The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) provides personal care, support, and assistance to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care, supporting the physical and emotional well-being of patients and residents.
Our specialities include: Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Plastics, Gynaecology and General Surgery.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support patient mobility and transfers, including using hoists or other equipment
- Observe and report any changes in a patient's condition to nursing staff
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment
- Assist with feeding patients who require help
- Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure (as delegated)
Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will be a positive and effective team player with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be dedicated to providing patient focused care.
You will also demonstrate:
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or be currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd year Registered Nursing student.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Surgical environment
- Ability to work as part of a team and reporting findings to allocated Nurse.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively according to directions
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of customer service and excellent time management skills
- Understanding of infection control principles
