About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Unit Manager to lead our Anaesthetics and PACU team. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for maintaining clinical standards, driving staff performance, managing resources, and achieving positive patient outcomes within the perioperative environment.

As Nurse Unit Manager, you will work closely with the Assistant Director of Clinical Services and collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. You will act as a clinical and professional resource, guiding decision-making, mentoring staff, and fostering a culture of service excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership to the Anaesthetics and PACU teams
  • Oversee daily operations including staffing, rostering, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure effective clinical governance and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to staff education through orientation, graduate support, and in-service training.
  • Partner with perioperative and hospital leadership to achieve strategic and operational goals.

 

About You
You are an experienced perioperative nurse with strong clinical expertise and a passion for leadership. You may already hold management experience or be ready to step into a senior leadership role and make your mark in a supportive and forward-thinking team.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Minimum 5 years’ postgraduate experience in an acute care environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Anaesthetics and/or PACU nursing.
  • Proven ability to supervise, lead, and motivate staff.

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant specialty or leadership/management.
  • Previous leadership experience within a perioperative environment.
  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation.

Remuneration

A base hourly rate ranging from $65.84 - $71.24 + superannuation based on relevant experience and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (QLD NUM/MUM level 1 – 4).

 

Requirements

  • Must provide a National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months
  • According to the role, Ramsay may require a Working-With-Children check and proof of immunisation against infectious diseases.
