About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead our dedicated team across 6 operating theatres and the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit. In this pivotal position, you will oversee the management of our operating theatres, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. You will report to the Assistant Director of Clinical Services - Perioperative Services.

The NUM will play a critical role in creating a cohesive and collaborative environment supported by Assistant Nurse Unit Managers, Registered and Enrolled Nurses, Theatre Technicians, and Administrative staff. Your responsibilities will include implementing quality systems in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, maintaining a commitment to continuous improvement, and identifying clinical risks to ensure patient-centered care.

Additionally, you will drive process efficiencies by managing labor costs and optimising resource allocation while adhering to departmental and hospital strategic objectives. Your ability to foster professional development and education within your team will be essential to achieving high-quality outcomes and enhancing relationships with visiting medical officers (VMOs).

 

About You

Success in this role requires a passion for delivering exceptional patient care and superior customer service aligned with Ramsay's core values. Your advanced communication skills will enable you to effectively manage the fast-paced nature of the environment while demonstrating strong leadership qualities.

 You will also bring;

  • Current AHPRA registration and a Bachelor of Nursing

  • Minimum 5 years’ postgraduate experience in a perioperative environment

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and support teams effectively

  • Experience managing budgets, including labor costs.

Highly regarded:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing, management, or leadership.
  • Previous experience in a senior leadership or management role within a hospital setting

 

Remuneration: 

On offer is base hourly rate ranging from $66.09 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
