The Opportunity
In this role, the WA State Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across Ramsay’s Western Australian hospital network - including Joondalup Health Campus (Public and Private), Hollywood Private Hospital, Glengarry Private Hospital, and Attadale Private Hospital. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Australia, you will lead hospital CEOs and executive teams to drive exceptional patient care, operational excellence, and financial performance. The role also requires strong engagement with key stakeholders and government partners, particularly in relation to the Joondalup Health Campus public–private partnership.

You’ll bring deep experience in enhancing customer outcomes, team performance, and profitability through innovative, sustainable strategies. Adaptable and commercially astute, you’ll excel in managing key stakeholders while fostering a culture of patient focus, collaboration, and continuous improvement - keeping Ramsay’s WA network at the forefront of healthcare excellence.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead Ramsay’s WA hospital network, driving excellence across clinical, operational, and financial performance.
 
- Partner with hospital CEOs and executive teams to deliver exceptional patient care, strong employee engagement, and trusted doctor relationships.
 
- Develop and execute strategies to grow services, strengthen differentiation, and enhance Ramsay’s value proposition for doctors and patients.
 
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with the WA Government, regulators, and key stakeholders to advance Ramsay’s objectives.
 
- Act as the primary liaison for public–private partnership discussions and negotiations, particularly for Joondalup Health Campus.
 
- Champion continuous improvement to optimise patient outcomes, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
 
- Oversee financial performance across the WA network, ensuring revenue growth, cost control, and sustainable profitability.
 
- Drive operational transformation aligned with Ramsay’s multi-year strategic agenda, strengthening capital discipline and portfolio returns.
 
- Lead, mentor, and empower high-performing hospital leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
 
- Enable hospital CEOs to deliver leading patient care, strengthen team engagement, and drive strategic service growth.
 
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in healthcare, business, or a related discipline.
 
- Postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
 
- Strong understanding of the Australian private healthcare system, funding models, and regulatory frameworks desired.
 
- Senior leadership experience within the healthcare sector desired.
 
- Proven vision, leadership, strategic planning and decision making and delivery capability.
 
- Demonstrated commercial acumen, with entrepreneurial ability.
 
Western Australia Hospital Network
Joondalup Health Campus comprises two facilities - Joondalup Public Hospital and Joondalup Private Hospital - and is the largest hospital in Perth’s northern suburbs. With 775 licensed beds and bays (629 public and 146 private), it treats nearly 73,000 inpatients each year. The campus includes one of Australia’s busiest emergency departments, featuring a dedicated paediatric unit, a 102-bed mental health service, and 15 operating theatres. Operated under a public–private partnership between Ramsay Health Care and the WA State Government, Joondalup Health Campus delivers care to both public and private patients and continues to expand its capacity and service offering.
Hollywood Private Hospital, located in Nedlands, is Western Australia’s largest private hospital, offering acute care across specialties such as cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, and mental health. The hospital has over 900 beds and 20 state-of-the-art operating theatres, including facilities for robotic surgery and specialist rehabilitation.
Glengarry Private Hospital in Duncraig is a 110-bed facility providing a range of services, including endoscopy, palliative care, surgical, rehabilitation, and medical care.
Attadale Private Hospital is a 39-bed facility specialising in inpatient rehabilitation, therapy, and recovery support to help patients regain independence following illness or surgery.
