About the opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Receptionist to join our team.

In this pivotal front-line role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality administrative support and exceptional service to patients, visitors, and staff.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain experience working in a dynamic healthcare environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service as part of a supportive team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-level administrative and reception support.
  • Ensuring a smooth and welcoming patient experience from arrival through to follow-up.
  • Liaising with specialists, nursing staff, and other departments to support efficient clinic operations.
  • Assisting the Administration Team in back-office tasks and providing accurate financial data.
  • Ensuring patients have a positive experience with our hospital from their very first phone call. This includes warmly greeting clients, efficiently handling inquiries, and providing necessary information with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Handling patient admissions, maintaining accurate records, and processing accounts.

 

About You

You are a motivated and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You take initiative, work well both independently and as part of a team, and can remain calm and organised in a busy environment.

Your strong customer service focus ensures patients and visitors feel welcome and supported at all times. No previous experience in similar roles is required if you are able to learn new skills quickly.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Competent keyboard and computer skills with Microsoft office programs.

Desirable Skills and Experience 

  • Previous experience in the health care industry.
  • Previous experience in a switchboard / reception position.
  • Experience in Patient Information Systems (ie. Meditech).
  • Ability to share a rotation of shifts EARLY & LATE (Range between 0630 – 2200 Mon – Fri & 1200 – 2000 Sat – Sun)

 

Remuneration: A base hourly rate of $32.60 + superannuation, based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (QLD Clerk Grade 2 Yr 6).

Requirements

  • Provide or complete a National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months
