About the Role

We are seeking a Part-time Ward Clerk to join our busy Rehabilitation Ward. As the central point of coordination for patient flow, communication, and documentation, you will work closely with nursing, medical and allied health teams to support exceptional patient care

You will rotate across departments and must be flexible to pick up additional shifts during the week to support sick leave and planned leave.

  • Proven administrative experience (healthcare or customer service ideal).
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage admissions, discharges, transfers, and bed movements.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based patient records.
  • Schedule and confirm medical and allied health appointments.
  • Liaise with doctors, nurses, external providers, and support services.
  • Prepare and track charts, notes, discharge summaries and MDT documents.
  • Support multidisciplinary team meetings and documentation.
  • Act as the first point of contact for calls, emails, and ward enquiries.
  • Provide administrative support including stationery, equipment and stock.
  • Manage ward diaries, visitor logs, and daily patient lists.
  • Maintain clear, respectful and professional communication.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients and families.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Strong administrative or ward clerk experience (healthcare preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
  • Medical terminology knowledge (or willingness to learn).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills, including patient management systems and MS Office.

Desirable

  • Experience in rehabilitation, surgical, or acute settings.
  • Understanding of hospital patient flow.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Must provide or complete a National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months
  • According to the role, Ramsay may require a proof of immunisation against infectious diseases.
