The Opportunity
Cairns Private Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant in Nursing (AIN) to join our Nursing and care providing team on a part-time basis.

In this rewarding role, you will play an essential part in supporting patient comfort, dignity, and safety, while helping to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the hospital.

You will assist with daily living activities, promote a safe and positive care environment, and support nursing staff with a range of patient-focused tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
• Support patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional needs
• Monitor and promptly report any changes in patient condition to nursing staff
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
• Support nurses with basic clinical tasks (e.g., vital signs, bed-making, patient repositioning)
• Provide emotional support and companionship
• Adhere to infection-control, hygiene, and safety protocols
• Accurately document care activities as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support, Health Services Assistance, or equivalent
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Experience in aged care, disability support, or hospital settings (preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow clinical direction
• Compassionate, patient, and committed to high-quality care
• Physically capable of assisting with patient handling and mobility

Requirements

• Must provide or complete a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
