Food Services Assistant - Mental Health Unit: Permanent part time position
Our Mental Health Unit has 102 purpose- built beds. This facility includes specialised services for adult, older adult, psychiatric intensive care, and a young adult and youth service.
Successful candidates must have the ability to work shifts across a 14-day rotating roster which may involve weekdays, weekend, and public holidays.
Working various shifts starting from: Shifts start times 0630, 1045, 1100 and 1330.
About the Role
As a member of our dynamic team within the newly established Mental Health Unit kitchen, you will report directly to the Catering Manager. Your role will involve operating in a team-oriented environment as well as being able to work on you own at times.
Your duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Customer service to patients with mental illness
- Setting up meal trays, plating, and distributing patient meals and beverages.
- Undertake cleaning duties within the kitchen and pantry areas.
- Following the hospitals HACCP/Food Safety infection control regulations standards such as temperature checks.
- Washing dishes /including Pot wash.
- Re stocking ward pantries.
- Knowledge of special diets and allergies - training will be provided
- Menu Input duties - training will be provided.
- Being responsive and sensitive to customer information, their needs and wants.
About You
To excel in this position, we seek a proactive and enthusiastic team member with a genuine enthusiasm for catering services. Previous experience in a comparable food service environment, particularly within a clinical setting, will be highly valued.
Ideally you will also bring:
- Previous experience in a hospital or hospitality environment.
- Previous customer service experience is essential.
- Certificate II or Certificate III in Hospitality (desirable).
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
Remuneration: On offer is a base hourly rate of $28.71 + superannuation, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
