The Opportunity
We are seeking a Wardsperson to provide support to Lake Macquarie Private Hospital. You will be joining our busy Emergency Department, providing assistance for patients in transit to and from our Emergency Department to various departments within the hospital and medical centre.
Wardsperson duties include, but are not limited to patient transfers, patient lifting using aides, response to emergencies, general cleaning, infectious cleans and assisting with daily operations in the Emergency Department and hospital. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will perform duties to ensure a high level of quality patient care is delivered in line with the care values and strategic direction of the Hospital and Ramsay Health Care.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effective within a team environment and independently
- Availability for a range of shifts across a 7-day rotating roster (morning/afternoon/night shifts)
- A strong willingness to learn and develop a working knowledge of hospital procedures
- Motivated and positive with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong understanding of manual handling and infection control procedures
- High level customer service skills
- Have an unrestricted NSW drivers’ licence
- Forklift license (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience as a hospital orderly/wardsperson (desirable)

Requirements
- Must provide or complete a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
- According to the role, Ramsay may require a Working-With-Children check and proof of immunisation against infectious diseases.
